Personal Tablet Laptops

The latest crazy right now is tablet laptops and large touch screen devices. I mean how could
you not see them on TV there are commercials almost every 10 minutes on them? But all I’ve seen so far is about how
amazing they are. Are there any disadvantages? Let’s have a look.
Since these devices are relatively new the technology for them still needs to come a long way. One problem I
have is that sometimes it is hard to see some things on the screen. With all the advancements for flat panel LCD
screens I’m not sure why this is an issue. But it is something worth noting. When I have a lot of things on the
screen I find it hard to read some of the text because it doesn’t come out all that clear.
The problem with the tablet laptops that I have owned and played with is that there is no way to hook
them up to an external device. I could not connect it to a printer, external hard drive, or other peripheral device. They are made to be as light as possible but I
don’t understand why there is such a lack in connectivity.

The writing recognition system is pretty good to recognize printed text but when it comes to hand writing you
need to take some time to teach the software of your specific style. The problem with that is it kind of limits it
to you as being the only one to write on it. But no fear, there are some recent upgrades that are getting better
all the time. Maybe even by the time you read this article there will be some great hand writing recognition for
tablet laptops.
The screen itself is pretty sturdy but you definitely want to have a protector of some sort. This is especially
true if you are letting someone else use your tablet laptop because they will have a tendency to press extremely
hard when you only need to lightly touch it. This large screen also makes it prone to damage so make sure you put
it in its case or face down on a table when not using it.
Of course with all technology the price starts out really high. A small tablet laptop will cost around $300-$400
and the price increase drastically the bigger you go. I like to think of them as either a fancy toy rather than
practical daily use. I mean, the way you input other than clicking is going to take you longer than it would with a
keyboard and mouse combination.
Don’t get me wrong, I love tablet laptops and personally own one. If you have a fancy for one
then I recommend you test one out at a computer store or business depot to see how you like it. Who knows, it might
be a good replacement for a lot of things you do.
